LSP metrics

By default LSP metrics and subsequent forward paths are inherited from the IGP. This can be further influenced within ISIS by using the ‘te-metric’ command which adds a seperate metric to an interface purely for MPLS forwarding use within the TED. OSPF does not support any additional MPLS metric type.

An MPLS metric can also be added directly to the LSP using the following configuration. This is useful when using forwarding adjacencies as the LSP metric is used by the IGP. The LSP metric should not be added within the MPLS protocol stanza and the IGP stanza. Only one approach should be used.
protocols {
     mpls {
          label-switched-path R1_to_R4 {
               to 10.10.10.1;
               metric 2;
          }
     }
}
